INSTANT GOLD

Quiet Adrian Ericson appears from nowhere (actually the Washington backwoods and his tutelage under a fabulous figure, now missing) to open a small shop in San Francisco where he sells canned gold (just mix with sea water). The product is predictably an instant success, with everybody except the government. However the FBI and Treasury can't fault it, and no one can restrain the buyer interest which not only rocks the economy but knocks the bottom out of the real thing.... Not quite worth its weight in carats, but a genial gambit.
