Karl de Schweinitz' Growing Up has sold many thousand copies to parents seeking a way to tell their children ""the facts of life"". And yet it is not wholly satisfactory. Methods galore, via the bees and butterflies, have been put forward, most of them sentimental. Here is an excellent middle ground book -- more inclusive than de Schweinitz, less physiological than Dorothy Baruch's excellent, My Body and How It Works. The step by step development from single cell to many, the various methods of reproduction -- and a little of the ethical viewpoint, admirably presented. Illustrated by diagrams and photographs. Could be given to children of teen age.
