LONG LOST FATHER

On holiday again, this versatile writer gives us this time another bit of delightful thistledown. Utterly different in mood and tempo from her more serious work, it is however, an entertaining story, just sophisticated enough without being really naughty, to appeal to the reader who wants to be amused and yet is not content with silly froth. The story of London's favorite restauranteur, and of what happens when his daughter, deserted in her cradle eighteen years before, crosses his path, and each determines to pull the strings of the other's career. (Whisper has it that Miss Stern is writing her autobiography -- and that this is a ""day off""). Good over-the-counter as well as library item.
