THE MONKEYS

Comic embroilments progress geometrically from a single fantastic situation in this first novel by G. K. Wilkinson. The setting is a small village in Provence and the innocent perpetrator of all the mischief is Tastarin Maridadou, a bachelor who inherits his uncle's olive grove. Monkey olive pickers, irate Communists, and a widow with five children add to an entertaining comedy of errors that imparts a pleasant flavor of Provencal life. A satire for sheer enjoyment.
