Nibble and his parents had saved all year for a sumptuous Thanksgiving dinner. How frustrating to be cheated out of their precious bounty by the smooth maneuvers of Mr. M. O. Squirrel. And what a shock when M. O. turns out to be the owner of the squirrel cafe. Nibble is furious. In his dreams he outwits M. O. by a score of clever calculations, but in reality, he disarms the villain completely by the direct straightforward approach. Impressed by Nibble's courage, M. O. returns the repast to be postponed and enjoyed at Christmas time. Children will identify with Nibble all the way -- his naive trusting nature, his realization and frustration. They will learn something too in the final choice the little squirrel makes. Charming green and brown illustrations by Margaret Bloy Graham and many witty and humorous touches by the author.
