When Jeffie's friends got their invitations to her costume birthday party they were happy and excited. What shall I go as, wondered quiet Mary. Maybe a quiet mouse? Or perhaps a big roaring bull? And noisy Jimmy couldn't decide whether to go as an Indian or a lamb or an angel. Margaret Bloy Graham's child-like illustrations in warm colors and heavy black line show the children trooping into Jeffie's house, playing together and wondering who was who beneath the masquerades. Unmasking answered everybody's questions. Type face is extra heavy for easy reading independently in the second grade. Reader guests will have fun too at Jeffie's Party. Strong stitching.
