The author's background in the period, evidenced in her world panorama, George Washington's World, is reflected here in lively and intimate facts of the grand saga of the colonies' fight for freedom. This book will prepare children for her broader picture of world events, and we hope she will do the same for Abraham Lincoln. Her doublespreads in two tone give the interior panoramas of Ferry Farm and Mt. Vernon; a third doublespread shows the wilderness, and a few smaller drawings liven the text. Too bad there could not have been more, but the text itself is so thrillingly vital that one scarcely misses the pictures.
