WHERE AM I NOW -- WHEN I NEED ME?

Where are you when you need this -- with it? True, via Playboy, it may strike you blue rather than pink but there are some funny moments in this story of Harvey Bernstein's longer than Seven Year Itch (Mr. Axelrod's hit play). He's a 46-year-old failed writer about to take his life in his hands (pills? his German P-387), a Walter Mittyish nebbish who's at the Best-Selling Writers School in Connecticut while all his friends are best-selling (you'll know them too). One of his write-ins, Cathy, a girl with many names and another older profession, appeals to him, first on paper, then in the flesh, and the correspondence course develops. While Harvey's wife runs off to Venice with Max Wilk, Harvey and Cathy go to Hollywood where there will be a spectacular success (book-film-production) for Cathy, and Harvey -- well. . . . To be sure, Mr. Axelrod repeats himself here, stretches there, but then that is almost the calculated risk so enjoy it for what it is -- knockabout-layabout farce.
