by George Cery Franklin ‧ RELEASE DATE: N/A
Franklin is in his groove writing about the Colorado of 1876 and a family who settle there on the Gunnison River. The Bassetts and young Steve left Kansas during a grasshopper scourge to come and start a sawmill in Lake Forks, in country in the midst of a gold stampede. Along with a peace establishing friendship with the son of a Ute chief, Steve gets himself a pack train of burros and delivers supplies to mining camps. William Moyers' solid drawings are satisfying supplements to a healthy story.
