SYLVESTER

Another Regency romp pursues the obstacle course of true love in the marital stakes of Sylvester, Duke of Salford, and authoress-incognito, Miss Phoebe Marlow. Phoebe has been a little dab of a country girl but her book, with the Duke as a villain, is about to be published when he comes with the possibility of offering for her. She flees with her childhood friend Tom Orde and they both are rescued by Sylvester who is shocked and delighted with her impropriety and candor. Once in London with her grandmother she learns more about her villain-hero, is forced to take his scoldings when her book creates a scandalous stir and, with Tom, is kidnaped by Sylvester's widowed sister and her new husband. In France, caring for Sylvester's nephew, it is Tom who whips the two embattled lovers into line. Nothing to put you in a gudgeon but a pleasant entertainment for Heyer's following.
