A Regency romp through the English countryside is sparked by the over imagination of Amanda ""Smith"" who starts the mischief by running away from her grandfather who will not let her marry Neil. Her stories and escapes involve Sir Gareth Ludlow, who realizes she must be protected, Lady Hester for whom he has offered and been refused, and young Hildebrand Ross whose attempts to forward Amanda's efforts to find Neil end in the accidental shooting of Sir Gareth. Amanda's request that Hester come to nurse the patient frees Hester from family duties and the four's enjoyment of an idyllic hideaway is shattered as families catch up with them and Amanda is restored to Neil while Gareth proves he wants Hester for love and not companionship. Pleasant pleasantries here.
