BEAU WYNDHAM

This, unfortunately, will prove a let-down to most of Georgette Heyer's admirers. It is pretty light weight, though it has its amusing moments -- a period portrait of the early 1800's ""beau"", goodish, but characters and situations smack of a stock -- and only occasional flashes save it from sheer prettiness. A Jeffery Farnolish tale of a Corinthian dandy who, about to be forced into an unwanted marriage by his family, gets drunk and aids and abets an orphan in escaping a domineering aunt and joining in the escapade. Entertainment value for lighter moments.
