Well, the many girls who like to read about it don't find it horrible at all and those who are chaperoning their books may be amazed by Lisa which really never really drips or droops. Liza is sixteen and spending a summer on an island where she gets a job as a singing waitress for a week before she's fired (summarily) and where she meets Michael, whom She loses (temporarily) to an older glamor gal. That's about all that really happens but there are engaging scenes, particularly those with Herbie, a five year old stray with an avid appetite.... Nice and natural touches throughout.
