WARTIME COOKING GUIDE: Stretching the Points

This is an excellent small cookbook for the troubled and busy housewife with a large household, and a problem of ""stretching the points"". It is not designed for the fussy hostess who wants something choice; but for good ""home cooking"", using familiar and unfamiliar meats and vegetables, and making the meals sound from a nutrition standpoint, and interesting, without being fancy. The author assumes a practiced background of knowledge. Granted that, this should be extremely helpful. Quick meals, lunch boxes, use of leftovers, substitutes and alternates-- all succinctly handled and presented with good, sound commonsense.
