THE BOYS' BOOK OF SAILING

An extremely useful reference book with sufficient how-to aspects of wide general interest to balance the fact that the examples of choices of small boats are British, some of the rules relate themselves to British waters and British sailing organizations. But the information is universal on every aspect of seamanship and sailing, on winds, tides, charts and compasses, navigation, cruising, sailing (in theory and practice), the various classes of sailing craft and the construction details of the craft themselves, on masts and sails and so on. The initial dictionary of sailing terms, the history of sail, the scientific facts behind why a boat sails- and how- all will be duck soup for the growing fraternity of young navigators.
