This is done in story form, but the story is somewhat artificial while the factual content is excellent. Pepito has never been away from his mountain village in the interior of Costa Rica until a grand Senor from the capital takes him and his widowed mother to the city as houseboy and cook. Pepito has a keen with and learns fast, and through sharing his experiences, the reader gets the contrasts in city and village and country life. Then come visitors from the U.S. -- and opportunity for further contrasts, and for study of the other countries of Central America. Easy way to learn geography.
