Pepito has never been away from his mountain village in the interior of Costa Rica until a grand Senor from the capital takes him and his widowed mother to the city as houseboy and cook. Pepito has a keen with and learns fast, and through sharing his experiences, the reader gets the contrasts in city and village and country life. Then come visitors from the U.S. -- and opportunity for further contrasts, and for study of the other countries of Central America. Easy way to learn geography.
