by Gordon D. Shirreffs ‧ RELEASE DATE: Oct. 12, 1964
A prolific author, Mr. Shirreffs has had two books become movies. His story-elling here has the manifest action/energy which often makes better watching than reading. Here, he describes the W.W.II adventures of Signalman Second Class Bob unbar and Gunner's Mate Third Class Gary Lunt as they serve on board destroyers and PT-boat and take over a coastwatching station on a hostile Japanese-controlled sland. The setting, action and ship descriptions have an authentic ring, but the two men are only devices with which to tell a war story rather than characters with any reality and they survive all their experiences virtually unscathed.
