A LAYMAN'S GUIDE TO EDUCATIONAL THEORY
by ‧RELEASE DATE: March 3, 1955
A precis of pedagogy in outline form, with charts, this is a restatement of theories or systems of education and the men who formulated them. In the first part, the tenets held by Plato and Aristotle, Luther and Bacon, Milton, Kant, Rousseau, down to Horace Mann, McGuffey and Dewey, among others, are briefly specified along with whatever influence they exerted. In the second part there is further amplification and evaluation of these schools of thought along with particularly pertinent excerpts from their writings. Perhaps more of a student's guide than a layman's guide, the theoretical doctrines here are abstracted and pared down to the simplest presentation possible for general accessibility and assimilation.
