A novel by the author of Northern Summer, with an authentic feel in the background of Norwegian life on farm and mountain, but it lacks the charm of the personal material in the earlier books. It is a psychological study of a man unable to adapt himself to changed conditions. Simply told story of a man, who through the loss of his inherited farm, loses caste in the community and is driven into isolation by his failure.
