THE FIRST TO AWAKEN

This is a novel of the year 2040, the story of a man who agrees to a long sleep experiment, and 100 years hence, wakes up to a few days of confusion, and then considerable objectivity about comparative ways and methods of living. He catches up on intervening history; he traces the trial and error methods that resulted in the de-centralization of cities and industrialization, the community living, the types of work, the current mentality. He accepts the fact of improvement, but recognizes the continued element of human frailty. There are scientific inventions and developments, economic and political adjustments, new ways of living and working, new personal attitudes. Interesting, as the Wellsian projections are interesting. Provocative.
