Some informed, if inconclusive sniping at the evils and omissions of progressive education is based on the success of one Dr. Macefield's fame as a child guidance councillor. With a new principal needed in the midwestern town of Cranville and Molly MacLean a devout follower of Dr. Macefield's written word, the result was obvious and not only almost wrecked the kiddies and the MacLean's marriage, but literally did wreck the school and nearly made Cranville the laughing stock of the country. Bill MacLean and his prompt energetic recovery of the situation started a new educational cycle for his town. Near farce treatment which while highlighting the patter and the patterns of ""superprogressive"" does put its finger on lazy and muddled thinking, misguided parental approaches. Salutary reading for both camps.
