500 TALES TO TELL AGAIN

Intended as a speaker's handbook, the tales are made up of digested fables, patches of English history, newspaper filler scraps, etc. Each is numbered and indexed for subject and will hopefully provide the faltering orator with a pointed opener or closer. Unfortunately, some of these are too British to easily make the transatlantic crossing, i.e. the ones that start -- ""Ronnie was a typical English schoolboy, a bright intense laddie and a cricket enthusiast..."" may lose readers before they try to adapt the anecdote for baseball. Others are so English in point of view that they are purely pointless here; for instance, the ones that report the small gestures of aristocrats to members of the lower classes are really only good manners rather than good stories.
