The Linkers have a popular TV program called ""Wonders of the World"". This is the story of how these wonders were filmed, when and where, as parents with a small son travelled the wide world over. The early years provide more of ""adventure"" -- romance too, as they meet in Iceland, marry, have a baby and keep on travelling, on hope, inspiration and a great measure of courage. For then there was no TV program; each trip was done on the margin of bankruptcy. But always they were together. The adventures should be read as a personal odyssey of fast travel to unusual places:- Lapland, Finland, Pakistan, the Congo, Simba, Egypt on the verge of revolution, the South Seas, Israel, Turkey, Portugal, Spain, Tangier, Russia and so on. Lively and entertaining, but often superficial and sometimes downright careless as to facts (example- over- looking the Dardanelles from the Hilton-Istanbul!) But even the slight amateurishness of style gives the reader a sense of participation in the Linkers' adventures.
