. . . the most original book of stories ever published"" or ""a monstrous literary joke"" are two of Ellison's assessments of this collection of stories he has written in just over a decade in tandem with some prestigious collaborators: Sheckley, Bova, Bloch, Silverberg, Van Vogt, etc., etc. Ellison introduces each tale and they travel in time through the predictable genres from the galactic to the gothic. There are fourteen stories all more or less entertaining.
