DIPLOMACY

More years ago than I can count I took a semester's course in diplomacy. I don't think that the whole term's list of text books gave more actual fact about the essentials of diplomacy than this slender volume by one of England's most cultured and brilliant diplomats and men of literature. He has given the reader a birdseye view of the history of diplomacy; he has defined his terms succinctly; he has analyzed trends and the meaning of diplomacy, old and new. And he has surveyed the changes in policy and the ""temperament"" and characteristics of the different nations today.
