THE STUPIDS HAVE A BALL

Unlike The Stupids Step Out, the family's second appearance is less consistently a string of moron jokes than a mixture of dumb behavior, odd taste, and bad puns; but there's no doubt that they're as stupid as ever. To celebrate the children's straight-F report cards, Mr. and Mrs. Stupid invite their relatives to a costume ball. (""Oh dear,"" says Mrs. Stupid, ""I don't know how to spell cousin Dottie Stupid's last name."") Mr. Stupid goes as General George Washing Machine, his wife wears ""beautiful"" spaghetti, the dog is dressed in a Bone Ranger cape, and the visiting relatives look even stranger. (Grandfather Stupid, dressed as the Easter Bunny and carrying a pumpkin, comes down the chimney with a ""Ho ho ho."") The big joke--""'Oh dear,' said Mrs. Stupid. 'I forgot to mention that it would be a costume ball! The other Stupids came in their everyday clothes.'"" More groaners for the Stupids' guaranteed following.
