A shy, a social, solitary child, Harvey Fergusson found in the quiet, the freedom, the world of nature which that country offered, much that accorded with his temperament. Here are random reminiscences of his forebear, his first friends, background at the turn of the century, the diversions and taboos of albuquerque society, his escape from the world to the out-of-doors where he found serenity; his early sexual indoctrination. The focus is very definitely personal, and granted the reader's share in the author's interest in the subject, this may occasion certain attention. For the most part, however, readers will find it limited in import, too lyrically self-centered.
