Back again is Herbert of Herbert and Herbert Again, and still with the tongue in cheek reporting on the freshly appreciated younger set. An episodic handling this, with each chapter a fresh adventure. Herbert wins a Shetland pony through a cereal box-cover contest. He evolves a plan for heating the sidewalk to melt snow and attracts a plethora of cats. He has a recording made of his own voice to scare the crows while he is recuperating from a summer attack of measles on a farm, and eventually tires of it himself. Extreme cases, one might say, but there's a lively authenticity to the telling.
