SEASONS

A very simple text is matched by very simple illustrations contrasting the seasons as perceived by a small child. After an introductory overview stating that "". . .I love all the different things there are to do,"" each season gets three double spreads of such conventional pleasures as flying kites, going to the beach, jumping in leaves and sending valentines. The illustrations are striking: large, unmodulated areas of bold but subtly balanced colors, the juxtaposition of blues and greens, pinks and purples inspired by a gifted eye. They give a vivid impression of their subjects that should please the youngest. However, the price is steep for a relatively slight book.
