by Helene J. Waddell ‧ RELEASE DATE: April 17, 1969
More beachcombing, via depiction of ""things for you to look for, look at, dig up, dig out, smell, touch, or listen to"" in large photos and a chatty, confidential, encouraging text. Most of the ""things"" are shellfish but the assortment is random and so is the information--which is interlarded with exclamations like ""Now, what in the world are these?"" and instructions like ""Sit next to it very quietly and watch very closely."" Although some of the photos are effective (while others lack depth and/or definition), the book as a whole has little impetus or cohesion--it just trickles out, leaving a sticky residue.
