The long-awaited further adventures of the offbeat trio from Friends (1982)--Charlie Rooster, Fat Percy the Pig, and Johnny Mouse--and a flat-out duet of words and art. Heine's text, with its syncopated wit, doesn't so much tell the story as suggest it: ""Their first adventure happened right behind the hay field. There was the wily fox with six prisoners--the goose princess and her sisters. The brave friends freed the prisoners--and saved them from slavery or worse."" The real action resides in the spread of the dastardly fox--with six geese tied up, gagged, and blindfolded behind him--facing the pig, who is outfitted in boxing gloves; Charlie cowers while Johnny eggs Percy on. The figures, as usual, have a three-dimensional fullness; with their endearingly human expressions and postures, they come off as exceptionally animated. Top-notch comedy from one end of this adventure to the other.
