Author Gluck follows the rise and fall of the second football league from its haphazard formation through its ""financial chaos,"" and up to the eventual collapse of a number of its ""superficially constructed franchises."" A good deal of the coverage here involves the Boston Bulls organization--the franchise that became the New York Stars and ended up as the Charlotte Hornets all within one year. Little wonder then that they became a ""confused, disillusioned team"" even before their equipment was confiscated (temporarily) for reasons of debt. The new game in town ain't such good gettin'.
