THE TRACES OF BRILLHART

Deac Deacon, writer on a big magazine, is persuaded by a childhood friend to establish the death of Brillhart and Deac, on the trail turns up more and more characters- mostly female- who insist he is alive. Deac always misses seeing or hearing Brill but when he finds a lead through an inbred community he realizes that there may have been a perfect crime -- but quite by accident, and his closing in on the live Brill shows the picture for which a frame has been manufactured. A manhunt with many obstacles, this breezes along.
