THE PSYCHIC WORLD

The author is director of the American Psychical Institute, so that alone should carry weight with the fast growing market for books in this field. Here, between covers, is a general survey of virtually all phases of psychic phenomena, presumably based on concrete evidence and fact. The opening chapters reveal a thoroughly scholarly approach; he knows the field from Bergson and James down. Then he goes into manifestations, with specific instances of each type -- levitation, telepathy, clairvoyance, ghosts, yoga, fire walking, dervishes, etc. He does not attempt to present scientific explanations -- ""seeing is believing."" Evidence drawn from Oriental and African sources.
