by Hildegarde Tolman Teilhet ‧ RELEASE DATE: June 20, 1946
Smooth, but not too surprising action adventure as Gordon Allgrove, his self respect weakened by a Washington assignment during the war and his marriage to too rich Cecelia, takes Cecelia to China where he was born, and where he is to set up a rug factory in the interior. Leaving Cecelia in Shanghai, Gordon tries to get through to Chungwei where his family had once managed a cooperative industry for the hill people, is warned that his present plans will be blockaded, and is finally taken prisoner by his antagonists, headed by Japanese Dr. Nama. Gordon escapes, is helped by partisans, learns that Cecelia is in the hands of Nama, goes to her rescue and eventually clears all opposition, regains his pride...Not too fresh on angles, but energetic enough entertainment for hotter days and lighter moments.
