SHOW LAMB

A mild but salubrious story of young Chad Warner who is anxious to take an active role on his father's Vermont sheep farm in the 1840's and to raise his own prize lamb for the nearby Turnbridge fair. Chad singles ""Champion"" out from the flock as his entry, marks him secretly, and pretends that the lamb is his. But at the fair, ""Champion"" disappears and is found with the flock of the crooked Crawford family. Recognition all the way around grants Chad his lamb, his lamb his prize, and the Crawfords their punishment. Satisfying rewards, and the pictures by Peter Burchard compensate for a lack of more robust activity.
