A highflown melodrama of Saya, son of a Bedouin sheik, and a great wild stallion, Khala Hawa. When his father goes to kill the marauding stallion, twelve year old Saya follows him, cures Khala Hawa whose bullet wound was not deep, and wins the horse for his own. An itinerant slaver, Hassan, and his band, are dispersed by Khala Hawa. In revenge, Hassan recoups his losses, but a treacherous raid and capture is again thwarted by the noble beast with his almost human intelligence... Young readers and riders may cotton to the exotic touches, but those in search of a real story may find that these dashing, desert doings do not ring true.
