A story of a born leader, a born soldier and officer, whose checkered career, with its ups and downs, its blacks and whites, reflect the uncertain policy of a young nation. Through his record, one gets a closer view of the multitude of wars in which we were forcibly engaged before we established our right to independence, our right to the land our people were settling, our right to our frontiers. While not a ""whitewashing"" job in so far as Taylor or the policies were concerned, there is little or no attempt to interpret any side but that of necessity.
