When news leaked out of Viet Nam that Old Hell and Hardtack Mackenzie had shot down an angel, every newspaper in the world dug into its morgue for the background and biography of this hard-bitten old warrior."" Thus zaps the opening of the title story which is well worth the price of the entire collection. Others, not as effective, include the tale of a Mohawk Indian who sits in to find God on the steps of Saint Patrick's; a story of a five footer who literally manages to bring the world down to his size; a horrifying look at old Mother Earth finally pierced to the core; and a massive insect rebellion. Good enough, but ""The General"" gets the four star review.
