WINDSOR REVISITED

The Duke returned to Windsor after 23 years and the portraits, and photographs (some of which are included here) on the walls occasion this slight postlude to A King's Story (1951). Most of it is concerned with clothes- what he wore when and where, in the schoolroom, at Oxford, on dress occasions, and now later- for sport- or writing when he wears his ""thinking jacket"". Over and above the discussion of his wardrobe and its accessories, changes in fashion and his own influence on it, there are occasional remarks about travelling- his residence with the Duchess- his gardening- her flower arranging- but it's pretty wispy stuff. There may be a certain sartorial to snob interest- from Savile Row on-but even if clothes do make the man they hardly make a book.
