TRAVELLING TO TRIPITI

Theodore the teddy bear, discarded for missing an ear and an eye, meets Kaspar the wooden horse (missing a wheel) in the rubbish pit, and together they decide to depart for Tripiti where, Theodore dreams, ""all the children want to play with him."" Along the (vaguely European) way, they attract other misfits--a Babushka doll missing one of her children, a gypsy doll with no hands, etc.: they proceed to Mikropolis where the best craftsmen live, stop for repairs, finally reach Philotria where they embark for Tripiti and those sought-for children. People are appropriately assigned to the background, and the toys, despite the wooden designation, are the brightest part of a diluted water-color landscape, but there is no assurance that travel is broadening--it's an old-fashioned story in an old-fashioned setting.
