Strode has that faculty for making his readers share the essential flavor of the places of which he writes. He gives enough of the history and background to strike a note of authenticity; he introduces governmental and economic aspects in conversations with people of all sorts; he shares his impressions and his enthusiasms. In a final chapter he discusses the trip that President Roosevelt made and the signing of the American pact. The appendix sketches the history of the Pan-American Airways.
