Fresh from his honeymoon, Jim Dunn of Denver takes his wife to mountain country on a case involving the Carlson clan, his secretary included. Unaccepted by the elder Carlson women, Mrs. Peter wants protection from and facts against Peter's mother. She suspects Mrs. Hilton Carlson of a California murder, but a new one crops up which can be pinned on the slinky lady. Accessories include an underwater cave connecting parts of the property, a clinging kept man, an unsavory cook, a taxidermist-matriarch. In these the fact itself is almost forgotten.
