The story of ""creation""; of Zeus and his long line of heirs including Poseidon, Hermes, Dionysus; of the minor gods such as Prometheus, Pandora and Pan; of the mortal descendants of Zons, among them, King Midas, Heracles and Oedipus- all come through with spirit and color. The d'Autaire adaptation is succinct and to the point, sustaining the attention of youngsters not ready to assimilate adult versions of these tales. The book as a whole is an appealing aperitif to the whole literature of Greek myths and certainly makes a visually satisfying gift item.
