We have starred this because it is probably one of the most saleable books of the season -- the fame of the illustrators, the timeliness of anything patriotic, the publisher advertising. But it is very difficult for us to review it, for we have never been violently enthusiastic about the American background illustrations by this pair but we know that we are definitely in the minority. Our greatest objection is that the pictures are confusing to the young and this book seems most bewildering because periods in history are mixed up. The text is our National Anthem which should certainly be brought to the attention of our children at an early age. However, please try this out yourself -- we are too biassed to be good at judging.
