Sacre"" and ""tol-lol"" this cheerful period piece moves with unmitigated energy and undismayed aplomb from Petersburg to London to Vienna, and while Napoleon advances into Russia, Lise (the rebel) attempts to take Sacha (the rake) with whom she'd grown up in the household of a Count. However, Sasha, involved inca Shooting over a gypsy, leaves Petersburg for a restless exile in Volnoya. Lise goes with him, in the hope of reaching England, does so and achieves quite a style of her own in this here world of the beau monde and the haut ton. As for the book, it's an imperial trifle, for the Georgette Heyer-archy.
