Scholar/author of The Hobbit has deciphered some more verses from ""The Red Book"", his own private, old and worn manuscript. Old Tom, too large for a Hobbit and assuredly too squat for a human, ""wrote"" verses that roll along in strange meters and weird words. The world of hidden things near a faraway stream: the Badger-folk, the narrow dwellers, water-rats and nymphs form a small part of Tolkien's unique, entertaining land. The book is a challenge for the narrator, who will find these poems-- especially ""Errantry""--difficult fun to read aloud. The stone troll, Tom and other creations are memorable acquaintances who will doubtless be enjoyed,-- perhaps more adults than children.
