I LOVE GALESBURG IN THE SPRINGTIME

Most of these pieces have appeared in McCall's, Playboy, the Saturday Evening Post and even one in Collier's (the late). It is not surprising that there is a note of similarity-in these stories of the pleasant -- not grim -- supernatural since there has been recently quite a demand for the neat gimmicky tale of the creepy crepuscular. The subject is varied -- people of the past force a town to reject ""improvements""; a criminal returns a pursuing officer to the 1880's; a man ascends in a balloon with someone else's wife; a condemned man paints a door to rescue in his cell; a love letter flutters from the dead to the living; a man swallows a love potton, etc. Pleasant enough, these are really zoned for teens and Twlight.
