THE WOODROW WILSON DIME

Hero Ben is a failure ""maritally, financially, socially, creatively and employment-wise"" as he contemplates a lackluster future, not to mention cooling passion toward wife Helen. Suddenly presto-change-o, a Woodrow Wilson dime projects him into a blissful alternate world where he's the big boss and is married to his old voluptuous girlfriend Tessie. The only flaw in this future is that Helen turns up engaged to a nefarious lawyer, Custer Huppfelt, and Ben discovers that he's still in love with her. So he shuttles back to his original world only to find that Helen's divorcing him and marrying. . . Custer Huppfelt. But Custer can be bought and Ben transfers again; this time to earn a lot of money by inventing all kinds of unheard of things like the zipper, the bicycle and the Grateful Dead. Finney is a funny far-out man. The Dime is worth the price.
