JAMES FENIMORE COOPER

The Leatherstocking Tales are better known, perhaps, to young people than to some of their elders, hence probably there will be substantial interest in this biography of their creator. Cooper's boyhood, his years at sea, the town his father founded and where he grew up (Cooperstown), his writing and enormous success, particularly abroad, his quarrels with critics and the press. Interwoven is the study of his work, thirty two novels and a dozen other things. Interesting for upper teens.
